Favorite Softwares for Industrial Instrumentation

Hello everyone,

I’m just wondering if there are any softwares that you like to use for field comissioning, and that you always depend on.
I’ve always used and liked PactWare, as well as Rockwell CCW for Rockwell drives, and PRONETA for Profinet devices.
Any software that has made your life easier?

Thank you,

The software tools you’ve mentioned — PactWare, Rockwell’s Connected Components Workbench (CCW), and PRONETA — are indeed very useful for field commissioning, specifically in the context of industrial instrumentation and automation.

Here are a few other software tools that professionals in the field often find helpful:

  1. Siemens TIA Portal (Totally Integrated Automation Portal): This is an intuitive automation software for a full range of Siemens industrial automation products. It’s great for commissioning Siemens PLCs, drives, and HMI devices.
  2. Fluke Connect: Used with Fluke’s range of wireless test tools, this allows for remote monitoring and logging of measurements, which can be helpful during commissioning.
  3. Kepware’s KEPServerEX: This is a widely-used industrial connectivity platform that supports a broad range of protocols and APIs. It can be useful for checking communication between devices.
  4. HART Communicator Software: This is essential if you’re working with HART instruments. There are several versions from different vendors, and some are available as mobile apps.
  5. ODVA’s EtherNet/IP Capacity Tool: This can help in the design and commissioning phase of an EtherNet/IP network by calculating resource usage.
  6. ProSoft’s ProSoft Configuration Builder: Useful for configuring ProSoft’s communication modules.
  7. National Instruments’ LabVIEW: Useful for creating custom test, measurement, and control systems.
  8. Anybus NetTool for PROFIBUS and Anybus NetTool for PROFINET: These tools by HMS Networks can be quite useful for diagnosing network issues.

Remember, the right software tools can significantly improve your efficiency and effectiveness in field commissioning. The best tool for you depends on the specifics of your hardware, protocols, network, and other aspects of your system. Always check compatibility with your devices and systems when choosing a software tool.
