Intrinsic safety in Field instruments

Hi All,
An externally powered instrument like ultrasonic flowmeter or coriolis flowmeter operating with 120 or 110 V power supply can be Intrinsically safe certified(EX ia).
If Yes how with model reference
if No, Why??
