Why There is a Multiphase Meter (including Wet Gas Meter) installed in a Vertical Way?
Usually, the multiphase meter that recommends a vertical installation is a meter that uses a phase fraction device to measure gas/liquid fraction. Whether it uses gamma-ray, microwave-based, etc.
By installing meter in a vertical way it will have a symmetrical flow pattern. This symmetrical flow pattern can’t be achieved when the meter is installing in a horizontal way due to the heaviest fluid will be in the lower part of the pipe and the lighter fluid will be in the upper part.
This unsymmetrical flow pattern will affect the phase fraction measurement accuracy.
