Fire & Gas Detection Terminology includes the different gas detectors like combustible, toxic, flame, heat, smoke, manual call point, lower explosive limit etc.
Fire & Gas Detection Terminology
Combustible Gas Detector:
A detector that senses the presence of combustible gas.
Toxic Gas Detector:
A detector sensitive to toxic gas.
Flame Detector:
A detector which responds to radiation emitted by a flames from a fire.
Heat Detector:
A detector which responds to increase in temperature.
Smoke Detector:
A detector which detects visible or invisible particles of combustion.
Manual Call Point:
A device for the manual initiation of alarm.
Lower Explosive limit:
The concentration of combustible gas, vapour or mist in air below which an explosive gas atmosphere will not be formed.
Addressable Devices:
A fire alarm system component with discrete identifications that can have its status individually identified or that is used to control other functions.
Time of Response Tx (Gas Detectors):
The time interval, with the apparatus in warmed-up condition between the time when an instantaneous variation in volume ratio (V/V) is prodcued at the appratus inlet and the time when the response reaches a stated percentage (x) of the final indication.
Volume Ratio (V/V):
Volume ratio can be define as ratio of the volume of a component to the volume of the gas mixture under spcified conditions of temperature and pressure.
