Work on the principle of fluid inertia.
The impeller-turbine flowmeter, an impeller driven by a constant-speed electric motor imparts a “spin” to a moving fluid, which then impinges on a stationary turbine wheel to generate a measurable torque. The greater the mass flow rate, the greater the impulse force imparted to the turbine wheel.
