NPN or PNP - velocity vibration proximity in cooling water pump system

Dear Team,
Would you please clarify that we are using proximitor in field to transmit vibration data of a pump shaft to DCS which works with -24V dc and COM dc as supply .Then gap voltage was -9.5 Vdc is in NPN or PNP configuration. Here our supply was -24V to proximitor.so It must be PNP. Will you please give a clarification on this doubt.
