  2. Zero-Point Calibration (Optional - pH 7):

    • Start with the pH meter in its default or off state.
    • Rinse the electrode with distilled water and gently blot it with tissue paper.
    • Immerse the electrode into the pH 7 calibration solution.
    • Allow the reading to stabilize. It should read close to pH 7. If not, adjust the pH offset if your meter allows.
  3. Slope Calibration (pH 4 and pH 7):

    • Rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot it gently.
    • Immerse the electrode into the pH 4 calibration solution.
    • Allow the reading to stabilize. It should read close to pH 4.
    • If needed, adjust the pH slope using the meter’s calibration controls.
  4. Additional Points (Optional - pH 10):

    • Some meters allow a third-point calibration using pH 10 solution. Follow a similar process as with pH 4 and pH 7.
  5. Final Verification:

    • After calibration, rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot it.
    • Measure the pH 7 solution again to confirm the accuracy of your calibration. If needed, make minor adjustments.
  6. Calibration Record:

    • Document the calibration process, including date, time, pH solutions used, and any adjustments made.
  7. Maintenance:

    • Always store the pH electrode in a storage solution (usually 3M KCl solution) to keep it hydrated and maintain its integrity.
    • Clean the electrode before and after each use.
    • Regularly recalibrate the pH meter, especially if you’re measuring critical samples or after prolonged storage.
