The impairment of the reception of a wanted electromagnetic signal or the creation of a spurious electromagnetic signal by an electromagnetic disturbance.
This can be caused by radiative electromagnetic interference sources, such as lightning or radio transmitters, or conducted electromagnetic interference transmitted through power lines from other electrical devices.
