End-of-Line Resistance is a technique of monitoring the transmission line and the status of an alarm system control unit connected to an annunciator panel.
The alarm signal transmission line is terminated at the alarm control unit with one resistance to indicate a secure state and a different resistance to indicate an alarm state.
Other resistances, including an open or short circuit, indicate line trouble or tampering.
