Can someone please explain why we place a diode in series and a resistance in parallel, thank you in advance.
Why a diode is connected in series with a solenoid, and a resistor of 3.7k ohms in parallel with the same resistor (usually a diode should be placed in parallel with the solenoid coil)
A diode is typically placed in parallel with a solenoid coil to suppress voltage spikes generated when the solenoid is turned off, protecting other circuit components. However, placing a diode in series with the solenoid might be done to prevent reverse current, allowing current to flow in only one direction.
